Friends of the Los Angeles River's Official Guide.

Unknown to many Angelenos, the Los Angeles River wends its way through LA, from the San Gabriel Mountains to the Pacifc Ocean. For Years much of the river has been culvertedin concrete channels, hidden from view, except as an occasional backdrop to gritty Hollywood movie scenes.

Recently the river has seen a renaissance, with organizations, such as Friends of the Los Angeles River, working with local residents and groups of volunteers have been able to revitilize the area with natural plantseand landscapes, recreational areas, bike and hiking paths.

The efforts will continue and the work is a long way to be complete, so we hope that by reading this book you, the readers, will be inspired and motivated to lend a hand to the efforts of these groups
