Located above 8000 feet in the “high country” Tuolumne Meadows is covered in snow every winter and the only road in is closed, but when summer is on the horizon and the snow is melting, the road will open just in time for you to escape the heat and crowds of the popular, lower elevation areas nearby such as Bishop and Yosemite Valley.
