Off Trail Routes for the experience backpacker.
Hiking trails are there for good reasons, they offer guidance, they are marked and guide hikers to where they want to go. Map and guidebook publishers do their best to indicate trail heads, distances and elevation changes charts, making it safer and to a degree, more comfortable. Beyond Trails in the Wind River Mountains of Wyoming goes beyond the marked, groomed trails. The routes sited in this guidebook require a greater lever of backpacking expertize, beyond the casual weekend backpacker knowledge.
